Land near Sellafield sells for 70 million. the 470 acre site goes for\u00a06.7 million an acre. The site near Sellafield processing plants will\u00a0become a NEW NUCLEAR 3.5MW power station. “The Sellafield property\u00a0deal followed similar sales of NDA lands in Anglesey, Gloucestershire\u00a0and Essex. John Clarke, Commercial Director of NDA, informed that the\u00a0combined sales of lands would generate \u00a3450 million, which will be\u00a0used by the organization [NDA] to clean up and decommission old\u00a0nuclear energy plants.” [1]<\/p>\n
The clean up bill is \u00a373bn and rising [2]. the old plants, now in\u00a0private hands are not paying for this, the British tax payers are. FFS\u00a0– the master plan is to sell greenfield land near old nuke plants to\u00a0build new nuke plants and the cash will pay for the clean up?. BUT the\u00a0cash is \u00a373bn short of an old cost reported in 2008 where the cost\u00a0rose from \u00a312bn to \u00a373bn.<\/p>\n
What really annoys me is that sloppy journalism doesn’t point out\u00a0these massive anomalies. The technology in new nuke has the same of\u00a0clean up problem as old nuke plants, where do they hide the waste?<\/p>\n
